American Builder: The Bohannan Legacy

As a fifth-generation builder, Benjamin Bohannan proudly upholds a family legacy of American craftsmanship and infrastructure that began in the 1930s.

The story began with Benjamin’s great-great-grandfather, Thomas Bohannan, who laid the foundation for the family trade by constructing early roadway infrastructure. In 1949, the business was formally incorporated as Bohannan Paving. A decade later, Benjamin’s great-grandfather Iris Bohannan, alongside his brothers Therin and Olaf, expanded the enterprise under the name T.O.B.I. Transport, supplying cement, rock, and sand to meet the surging demand of California’s post-war housing boom.

In 1964, Benjamin’s grandfather Glenn Earl Bohannan and his brothers established Bohannan Bros. Ready Mix Concrete, operating multiple batch plants across Greater Los Angeles. Their concrete helped shape landmark buildings, including the 11000 Wilshire Blvd. Federal Building, contributing to over 38 million gross square feet (GSF) of built space between 1938 and 2002.

Carrying the Legacy Forward: ARCHistructure

Today, ARCHistructure, under Benjamin’s leadership, continues this multigenerational tradition across Southern California. The firm focuses on construction management with a specialization in mass concrete structures, structural efficiency, façade systems, and optimized constructibility—all delivered with cost and schedule discipline.

Rooted in Relationships

Benjamin builds more than structures—he builds trust. His philosophy is grounded in collaboration, transparency, and respect, treating clients as partners and tradespeople as integral team members. This relationship-first approach has earned him long-standing partnerships with private developers and public agencies alike.

Expertise in Structural Delivery

With over 17.1 million square feet of completed multi-family housing and single mat pours exceeding 15,000 cubic yards, Benjamin’s resume is distinguished by:

Elevator core pours extending 95 feet below grade

Vertical concrete framing up to 31 stories

Experience with urban infill and city-imposed height restrictions

Proven top-out speed on high-density residential towers

A standout achievement: the 31-story mixed-use tower at 11th & Broadway in San Diego, developed by Pinnacle International. Featuring a 7-level podium, 300 residential units, and 658 parking stalls, the structure was completed from core to shell in 18 months and fully leased within 22 months.
